NEXUS Interview
All NEXUS applicants including children must attend a compulsory interview at a NEXUS enrollment center of their choice. Failure to schedule or attend an interview will result in immediate denial to the NEXUS program.
The interview takes place with an agent from the Canadian Border Services Agency and one from the United States Customs and Border Protection Agency. The interview lasts for around 30 minutes; during this time the interviewing officer takes the applicants biometric data which consist of the following:-
- A photograph of the applicant;
- Digital fingerprint scan
- Iris scans (please check which enrollment centers offer this facility)
The border crossing agent will also authenticate the information provided on the application form by checking it against the applicant’s original documentation (passport, proof of address etc). The NEXUS enrollment officer will also explain how the program works and answer any questions. After 7-10 days you will receive your NEXUS membership card in the post.
NEXUS membership is valid for 5 years. NEXUS applicants will be told at the interview if they have been approved for the NEXUS program. Once the membership card has been received and activated you can use the NEXUS kiosks and lanes.
