Using the SENTRI Lane

SENTRI card holders are authorized to use the SENTRI lane when traveling between the US and Mexico in either direction by land. The SENTRI pass will expedite border crossing and clearance. Border crossing points have one lane reserved for SENTRI use only and some will also designate a second lane if needed. A car can only use the SENTRI lane if all passengers (including children and infants) have a valid SENTRI card and passengers have nothing to declare at customs.

Upon reaching the US - Mexico border by car or on foot, SENTRI card holders should pull into the SENTRI lane and hold their cards before the card reader. After they scan their cards, they should stop at the customs booth for a visual check from the customs officer. If not selected for a random check, they can proceed to crossing the border. SENTRI card holders cannot use the SENTRI lane if they are traveling with persons without SENTRI cards in the car.
